CHROMOSOME is a project supported by the Salamanca Ciudad de Cultura y Saberes Foundation and developed in the Department of Computer Science of the University of Salamanca. The objective of CHROMOSOME is to develop IoT-based services and an automation infrastructure that support a behavioural change on residential energy consumers towards more efficient habits and a drastic reduction on consumption and emissions, and to monitor sociological metrics that guarantee that comfort levels are not being compromised. This platform will be designed as a social machine, where humans and computers collaborate, that exploits energy-related data (smart meters, smart home devices, open data…) as well as social-related data (socio-demographic factors, human interactions in social networks, social acceptance…). It will leverage users’ adherence to efficient habits through persuasive recommendations and collective challenges together with intelligent control and automation at smart homes.
We are offering a new training course where students will learn the basis of Big Data Processing by using the most popular framework.
The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem is slowly transforming different areas of human life, involving sectors such as transport, health, energy, and security.
